An excursion catamaran moored in the harbour at Dénia

From Dénia harbour — boat trips and the island ferries

Dénia’s port has two things worth building a day around: short boat trips along the coast, and the ferry across to the Balearic islands.

Boat trips along the coast

Operators at the marina run coastal excursions in season — a catamaran day out, a sunset sail, or a trip south past the cliffs toward Xàbia and the Cova Tallada, usually with a stop to swim. Most leave from the marina; book a day or two ahead in summer.

The ferry to Ibiza and Formentera

Dénia is one of the handiest mainland ports for the Balearics — a fast ferry reaches Ibiza in around two hours, Formentera a little longer. A day trip is possible but tight; check the timetable both ways before you commit, and note that sailings thin out outside the summer.

Good to know

  • The fast ferries run from the commercial port, a few minutes from the marina, with paid parking
  • Book the island crossings ahead in July and August
  • Sea conditions can cancel sailings and boat trips at short notice
  • The port is about 15 minutes from our villa
