2. General information and legal bases

We process personal data only where necessary to provide a functional website and our content and services. Depending on the processing, the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b)), compliance with a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)), or our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).

3. Hosting

This website is hosted by Strato AG, Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin, Germany. When you visit our website, Strato collects technical data including your IP address, requests and metadata. The servers are located in Germany. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and efficient provision of our website). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Strato.

4. Server log files

The hosting provider automatically collects and stores information in server log files that your browser transmits: browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, hostname of the accessing device, time of the request and IP address. This data is not merged with other data sources. Collection is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for the purpose of technical provision and security. Log files are deleted after [X] days at the latest.

5. Cookies and consent management

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Technically necessary cookies (e.g. for language selection via Polylang) are set on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR / § 25(2) TDDDG. All non-essential cookies and embedded services are only used after your explicit consent via our cookie banner (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). To manage these consents we use the consent management tool “Real Cookie Banner” (devowl.io GmbH, Germany). Your consent is logged and can be withdrawn or adjusted at any time with effect for the future via the “Cookie settings” button. An overview of the cookies and services used can be found in our Cookie policy and in the cookie banner.

6. Contacting us

If you contact us via the contact form or by email, we process the data you provide (name, email address, message) in order to handle your enquiry and for any follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a (pre-)contractual relationship, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (interest in responding to enquiries). Emails sent from our website are dispatched via the FluentSMTP service in connection with our email provider. We store your enquiry until the purpose of storage no longer applies; statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

7. Newsletter

If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter, we require your email address. Registration uses the double opt-in procedure: after signing up you receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe at any time, e.g. via the unsubscribe link in every newsletter email. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out up to that point.

For dispatch we use the Brevo service of Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany (“Brevo”). Brevo processes your data on our behalf; a data processing agreement is in place. Brevo enables us to statistically analyse the mailing (e.g. open and click rates). More information: brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy.

8. Google Analytics

If you have consented, this website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to analyse website use and generate reports on website activity. Your IP address is truncated/anonymised by Google. Data may be transferred to Google servers, including in the USA. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw your consent at any time via “Cookie settings”. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.

9. Google Maps

On individual pages (e.g. contact, properties) we embed maps from the Google Maps service of Google Ireland Limited. The map is only loaded once you have consented. When Google Maps is used, data (including your IP address) is transferred to Google and may be processed on servers in the USA. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). More information: policies.google.com/privacy.

10. Booking enquiries and availability

To display availability and process bookings we use the Beds24 service (Beds24.com Limited). When you request or complete a booking, the data required for this (e.g. name, contact details, travel dates) is transmitted to Beds24 or its booking system. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (initiation and performance of a contract). Further processing within the booking is governed by the contractual terms and privacy information provided to you during the booking process.

11. Recipients and transfers to third countries

Your data is only shared with the service providers (processors) named in this policy, and only to the extent necessary for the stated purposes. Where data is transferred to recipients outside the EU/EEA (in particular Google), this is done on the basis of your consent and/or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

12. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and a right to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). You can withdraw any consent given at any time with effect for the future. To exercise these rights, please use the contact details in section 1.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart (baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de).

13. Retention period

We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes or as required by statutory retention periods (e.g. under commercial and tax law). The data is then deleted or anonymised.

14. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the “https://” in your browser’s address bar.
