The Castillo de Dénia sits on a hill right in the middle of town — you can see it from almost everywhere, and the walk up through the old streets takes about 10–15 minutes.
A quick history
The oldest parts date back to the 11th century, in the Islamic period. It was expanded and reshaped over the centuries by the Moors and later the Christians. Today you can wander the walls and towers, visit the small archaeological museum, and stop at several viewpoints across the site.
The views
This is really why you go up. From the top you get the whole town below, the Costa Blanca coastline, the harbour and the open Mediterranean.
